In order to prevent the Covid-19 virus spread widely, Indonesia Government issued the regulation called Large Scale Social Restriction or Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar (PSBB) on 6 April 2020 – 23 April 2020 and continue to be extended or carried out new regulation as long as it has a daily number of people who infected with the virus is high. The regulation is made to limit the society activities and doing the activities such as work, religious and school from people own house. Education has become one of the sectors that is affected by this implementation. This research aims to see the communication approach used by the teachers to overcome the communication problems during the online learning process and how both the teachers and the students improve the communication during the online learning process. Using qualitative methodology with case study approach, this research examines the online learning process and the communication approach used by the teachers at SMK Gita Kirtti 2. The data collection technique was deep interview with 2 teachers, and an educational expert. This research utilizes five relative concepts, which are interpersonal communication, computer-mediated-communication, online learning, the communication in education and covid-19 pandemic. This research reveal that the interpersonal communication can be as one of the communication strategies during the online learning process because interpersonal communication can be done through face-to-face communication and online communication with the use of media and technology. The interpersonal communication process also happened in both synchronous and asynchronous communication.
