Abstract

COVID-19 has become a pandemic in Indonesia. One of the sectors that have been affected by this pandemic is the education sector. Based on this condition, the Indonesian government has made some national policies. One of them is implementing the learning activities that have been transformed into a distance learning or online learning process by relying on technology as a learning medium. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to know the implementation of technology in distance learning during the COVID-19pandemic; to know how well-prepared teachers, especially senior teachers, are in using the new advanced technology in the learning process; to see what are the challenges faced by the senior teacher, and to see how the senior teachers overcome the challenges. This research uses qualitative descriptive research with the data collection techniques through interviews with several senior teachers from Saint Mary School. The result of this research indicates that the use of Google Classroom is beneficial and adaptable by teachers with its features in the distance learning process during the current Covid-19pandemic, yet, some obstacles occur like the unstable connection, the limitation in interacting directly with students, and limitation in using technology due to ages.
