Abstract

A long-standing tradition apparently can be a danger for the world ofaviation. Shawwal tradition that requires people to fly hot air balloons as asymbolic victory on this Eid al-Fitr brings a negative impact to aviation safety. With this, AirNav Indonesia as an Indonesian flight navigation provider thathas the task of maintaining aviation safety implements socialization bymaking a series of events in the form of Special Events that can be attendedby the blimp flying community. This activity is done to reduce wild airballoons and turn them into tethered cultural balloons. With the stage of theevent management process according to John Goldblatt, Special Eventactivities that use descriptive qualitative research methods resulted inresearch that showed that AirNav Indonesia with its socialization activities bypresenting various officials as well as communities to support the running ofthe event, can run smoothly. The decrease in the number of reports of wildblimp discovery obtained from pilots shows that there is a change in behaviorand habits of the audience in accordance with the expectations andobjectives of the process stage as well as the strategy carried out.
