From the past until now, society often separates the nature and role of men and women, which often makes women the second class below men. Feminism is a movement to fight for gender equality so that women and men have the same opportunity in any field. Since digital media begin to emerge, feminism is also entering social media platform. Not only feminism movements, but feminism on the internet (social media), one of them is @indonesiafeminis Instagram account. This research has a focus in the role of @indonesiafeminis Instagram account in creating understanding of women empowerment. The theories used are Agenda Setting, Feminism and Uses and Gratifications. There are two concepts which are Instagram and Women Empowerment. The research methodology is using qualitative with the data collection through semi-structure interview and observation. The finding of the research has stated that the role of @indonesiafeminis Instagram account in creating understanding of women empowerment to its followers is still not effective because @indonesiafeminis Instagram account has several media agenda and one of them is women empowerment. However, there are obstacles come from internal and external sides that make the role less effective while public agenda is very dependent and influenced by media agenda even though the followers feel that @indonesiafeminis Instagram account has good and informative posts, explaining the content, giving information and educating the followers about feminism and women empowerment.
