Abstract

Interpersonal communication skills are crucial for effective interaction with others in personal and professional contexts. Performing arts provide a platform for creative expression, involving verbal and nonverbal communication. Developing performing arts skills can improve interpersonal communication skills such as active listening, empathy, and effective expression. Participating in performing arts activities can also promote social interaction, foster empathy, and create a sense of community, which are essential for building strong interpersonal communication skills. This thesis explores the importance of performing arts in enhancing interpersonal communication skills among the Abang None Jakarta Selatan 2022 participants through the "Gathering Night" event. This research is conducted by using a qualitative method that employs a mixed-methods approach, including interviews and observations, to examine the impact of performing arts on communication skills and the event's ability to create a sense of community among participants. The research findings show that performing arts have a positive impact on the development of interpersonal communication skills, including active listening, empathy, and effective expression. The study concludes that performing arts can be an effective tool for improving communication skills and fostering social cohesion, which can benefit individuals and communities alike.
