Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada film Snowden (2016) sebagairepresentasi akan teori panopticon Michel Foucault. Dengan mengkaitkan peristiwayang terjadi dalam film tersebut dengan konsep big brother yang dijelaskan George Orwell. Metode penelitianyang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan teknik analisis dramatistik pentad dari Kenneth Burke. Melalui penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan refleksitas dalam kehidupan nyata bahwa badan keamanan intelijen nasional Amerika Serikat yaitu national security agency telah melakukan praktik pengawasan kepada seluruh masyarakat dunia demi mencapai pengendalian ekonomi dan kontrol sosial. Pesan-pesan panopticon yang terkandung mengajak publik untuk menyadari bahaya yang ditumbulkan praktik pengawasan massal.
